| Journaling: It goes like this - I find the spot somewhere in the house that is not covered in mud or stray playdough globs or 15,000 legos or an unreasonable amount of sand. Then I open the windows, and turn on the perfect amount of light. I gather up the boys, to set them up in the perfect little ?brother pose.? This is when it starts. Owen starts giggling, because his toe is touching his brother?s toe. Then Reece decides he doesn?t like it in the spot he is in and begins to climb over Gareth, who grabs him to stop him, and they all spontaneously erupt in giggles... At this point I know. It is over. During this particular shoot, I started to feel irritated, as I usually do. Three crazy boys, all the time, do the ever sit still? Do they ever listen? Then I realize how sweet they look with those irresistible smiles, and the glow they have as they giggle. This time in- stead of threatening, bribing or crying my eyes out, I grab the camera and decide to go ahead with a different kind of photo shoot. One that cherishes these nutty little spirits. One that accepts that this is my life, these are my boys and this is what they do. They giggle and squirm, they wrestle and run. They pretty much always shoot things. They are energy and fun and joy embodied - they make me smile, laugh and cry. I had never imagined, being a mother of three little men. I grew up with only sisters and very rarely did I put much thought into bulldozers or trucks. But, my boys, my children - they have taught me so many things. Together we?ve discovered a new world. This is the world that my BOYS make go round. This is the world that I?ve learned to love. In the end, the pictures turn out great, and life is good.
